Gloucester County releases unofficial election results

Incumbent Julie DeLaurentis in the lead in Harrison Township Committee race over challengers Daniel R. Ross and Richard Pescatore

In unofficial results released by Gloucester County, 7,241 votes have been cast in the race for a seat on Harrison Township Committee. Incumbent Julie DeLaurentis is narrowly in the lead, with 2,751 votes – or 37.99 percent – over Republican challenger Daniel R. Ross, who garnered 2,594 votes, or 35.82 percent. Democratic candidate Richard Pescatore was trailing with 1,884 votes, or 26.02 percent. Write-in candidates made up the remaining .17 percent of the vote.

In other unofficial election results, the presidential race showed a stronger turnout for Democrat Joseph R. Biden in Gloucester County, with 76,925 voters – or 51.52 percent – choosing the Democratic candidate over Republican Donald J. Trump, who trailed with 69,839 votes, or 46.77 percent of the votes.

In the U.S. Senate race, Gloucester County voters also cast more ballots for Democrat Cory Booker over Republican challenger Rikin “Rik” Mehta, with 51.52 percent and 46.50 percent of the votes, respectively.

For the House of Representatives 2nd District seat, Republican incumbent Jeff Van Drew was showing a lead in unofficial results, coming in with 50.82 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger Amy Kennedy’s 47.07 percent.

The race for the three Gloucester County Freeholder seats was a tight one according to unofficial results, with Democrats Heather Simmons (18.02 percent), Jim Jefferson (17.35 percent) and Lyman Barnes (17.22 percent) ahead of Republicans Nick DeSilvio (16 percent), Chris Konawel (15.79 percent) and George W. Shivery Jr. (15.53 percent).
