The first word that may come to mind upon entering La Vie is “tranquil.” Situated on Moorestown’s bustling Main Street in the space that for many years housed Workman’s Bike Shop, the salon brings a graceful note to the east end of township’s central business corridor. Soothing interior colors and music welcome visitors as they enter the spacious salon signifying the relaxing experience ahead. The business offers a full array of hair and nail care services, but in addition, co-owner Don Nguyen would like for clients to consider La Vie a peaceful retreat where people can enjoy a holistic approach to their beauty and styling needs.

When he began to plan La Vie with his brother Anthony, Don Nguyen envisioned a space that addressed the well-being of clients along with offering beauty services. Relying on his knowledge of aromatherapy, reflexology and acupressure, he offers clients an opportunity to unwind as they get their hair and nails done.

“I want people to not only look better, but to really feel better when they leave here than when they walked in,” he notes.

One of the hallmarks of this family-owned business is the Nguyen’s attention to building relationships with customers and wanting them “to feel like the salon is a second home.” Customers short on time will find an efficient staff intent on working within their schedules, but those who want more can opt for a rejuvenating scalp, neck or foot massage, Epsom salts or essential oil treatment and other options to relieve stress and aching muscles. The Nguyen’s goal is to meet all their customers’ expectations and needs, including catering to different health issues.

Before La Vie opened in March of 2019, the Nguyens performed extensive renovation on the interior of the space. Improvements include a full dropped ceiling that adds to the peaceful atmosphere, a new central air and ventilation system to maintain air quality, and fresh flooring — although a segment of the original tile was retained at the entrance as a nod to the building’s history.

La Vie’s interior is over 2,500 square feet, and the ample space combined with the purification system and built-in vacuums at the nail stations prevent chemical odors and particles from lingering in the air. All the salon’s equipment was purchased with customers’ health, safety and well-being in mind. The owners strongly lean toward natural products whenever possible, noting that they are better for everybody and especially those with underlying health conditions.

The Nguyen brothers operated a salon in North Jersey for many years but decided to relocate to South Jersey to be closer to family members. After carefully considering other municipalities they selected Moorestown as the location for their new business.

“We were drawn by the appealing, walkable Main Street and obvious sense of community,” says Don Nguyen. “We knew this was the place we wanted to be, and it was important for us to be situated in the heart of town.”

Their goal is to become a mainstay in Moorestown and they are looking forward to participating as volunteers in township initiatives.

Moorestown Business Association welcomes La Vie as one of our newest members and township businesses. The MBA Board applauds the efforts and commitment of Don Nguyen and his family in re-envisioning this Main Street space as a welcoming oasis for community members and is delighted to present the Nguyens with a Spotlight certificate of appreciation
