Mayor’s Message 9.24.2020
CARES ACT- Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security
Members of Council and I are pleased to announce that through the US Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Joint Cooperative Agreement with Gloucester County, Washington Township is receiving $86,200.00 in CARES Act Community Development Block Grant funding to be used for the preparation, prevention and response associated with COVID-19. Washington Township is working with Gloucester County to see those funds distributed to eligible non-profit food banks, benefitting township residents most in need. Applications for these nonprofit organizations will be made available through the Office of Housing and Community Development of Gloucester County in the coming weeks.
Jefferson Campus Addition
Last week, Council President Joe Perry, Business Administrator Jason Gonter and I met with Jefferson Hospital President & Chief Operating Officer, New Jersey Division, Brian Sweeney and Vice President, Government & External Relations Lisa Morina to review the progress of the addition to Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township.
This $222 million dollar campus addition is a seven-story building with a 240,000 square foot patient pavilion which includes 90 all private patient rooms. On the third level, there will be an Intensive Care patient unit with 30 private rooms. The fourth and fifth levels include Acute Care patient units with 30 private rooms on each floor. Other amenities consist of a new parking facility with electric vehicle charging stations, new front entrance with drop-off, gift shop and café, a new two-story lobby, second level New Same-Day Surgery pre-and post-op unit; GI/Endoscopy suite and much more! We are all excited to see these plans come to a completion.
Rizzeri Salon & Spa New Location
On September 20, Council President Joe Perry and I attended Rizzeri Salon & Spa grand opening of their new location at 389 Ganttown Road. Their new location features an affordable luxury salon & spa offering services such as hair, nails, skin and massage, as well as services from Franco’s Barber. We wish them the very best and many continued years of success here in Township. The Grand Opening Block Party would not be possible without the following vendors: This is it TV, The Craft Room, SNJ Millennial’s, Shop Hailey Kaae, Love and Sugar Homemade Cookies by Connie, The Wing Kitchen, Creative Content on Demand, DJ Jenny Burke, the Rizzeri Township staff and Washington Township Chamber of Commerce what an amazing turn out.
Washington Lake Park
On September 19, Lights Out a tribute to Jersey Boys, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. I hope all residents enjoyed the entertainment at Washington Lake Park Amphitheater. I appreciate the effort from all of our park staff for keeping everyone socially distant.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO WEAR A MASK AND MAINTAIN A SOCIAL DISTANCE of 6 FEET IN ORDER TO AVOID THE SPREAD OF COVID-19.
