The Camden County Department of Health recorded 28 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County on Friday. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 10,104 in Camden County today and 568 total fatalities.
“Of today’s newly reported cases, the average newly infected person is between 20 and 30 years old,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“This week, we launched a new campaign aimed at getting young residents to ‘protect your circle.’ It is important to reiterate as we see more and more young people infected with COVID-19 that we do not yet know the long-term implications that may result from a coronavirus infection. Just because your illness is mild does not mean that it cannot cause serious complications down the line, as other viruses have been known to do. Please remember to always wear a mask, social distance, and minimize close contract with individuals who do not live in your household.”
Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,402 confirmed resident cases and 579 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 10,104 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 318 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 568 total fatalities countywide.
