County COVID-19 case count continues to climb past 9,000

The Department of Health is announcing 49 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) is announcing one new death caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 49 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 9,290 in Camden County and 551 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 1: MALE, 60s, Voorhees

“We are extremely saddened to announce the death of another member of our community caused by COVID-19. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the victim and their family,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “The Director of the Centers for Disease Control issued a dire warning to Americans today. If we do not follow the public health guidelines to slow the spread of coronavirus, we will face a fall worse than anything we have seen before from a public health perspective. We have to take this seriously, and we need everyone to buy in. Wear a mask, keep social distancing, and work with contact tracers when they call. We can avoid the worst of this, but only if we work together.”

The Department of Health is announcing 49 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,340 confirmed resident cases and 530 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 9,290 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 311 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 551 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
