CamCo to host virtual Memorial Day remembrance on Saturday

County ensures remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation is held despite coronavirus pandemic.

The Camden County Freeholder Board has created a Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony to honor the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

The observance will be viewable online on Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. The pre-recorded program was designed to ensure that America’s fallen heroes receive a proper memorialization despite social distancing and the coronavirus pandemic.

“We may not be able to gather in person, but there is no crisis, emergency, or circumstance which should prevent our fallen heroes from receiving the honor and memorialization that they deserve,” said Freeholder Melinda Kane, a gold star mother and liaison to the Office of Veterans Affairs.

“We ask that the entire Camden County community join us online, as we recognize and remember the brave men and women who made the sacrifice for this country and for the American people.”

This year’s Virtual Video Program includes:

  • National Anthem – Performed by Maria Melchiore
  • Invocation – Rabbi Jennifer L. Frenkel
  • A Message from Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli
  • A Message from U.S. Congressman Norcross
  • Keynote Address – Camden County Freeholder Melinda Kane
  • Taps – Performed by Greg Murphy, Bugles Across America
  • Gun Salute – Aboard the U.S. Battleship New Jersey
