The Gloucester County Department of Health confirmed Thursday night that a resident ill with COVID-19 has died, the first fatality in Gloucester County.
The patient was an 82-year-old female who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.
“We are saddened to report the first Covid-19 related death in Gloucester County, New Jersey, and we extend are deepest sympathy to her family and friends,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said.
As of Friday morning, March 27, Gloucester County has 42 positive cases of COVID-19, including nine new cases:
- A 62-year-old female from Franklin Township
- A 46-year-old male from Woodbury
- A 71-year-old female from Westville
- A 55-year-old female from Logan
- A 54-year-old male from Monroe
- A 51-year-old female from West Deptford
- A 40-year-old female from Washington Township
- A 27-year-old male from Monroe
- A 76-year-old male from Washington Township
Gloucester County Department of Health is currently working with the New Jersey Department of Health to trace close contacts of all confirmed cases.
County officials continue to let residents know that the overall threat of COVID-19 to Gloucester County residents remains low. Residents should to stay home when possible and adhere to social distancing and respiratory and hand hygiene recommendations. This is crucial in helping flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
