Governmental transparency is increasing yet again for local agencies in Evesham Township.
Later this week, the Evesham Municipal Utilities Authority and the Board of Fire Commissioners for Evesham Fire District No. 1 will each have their January board meetings livestreamed and recorded through a new pilot initiative with Evesham Township.
To facilitate these livestreams and recordings, the agencies will utilize the same technology in the courtroom of the Evesham Township Municipal Building that the township began using in May 2019 to regularly livestream and record meetings of the Evesham Township Council.
If these tests are successful, then moving forward in 2020, all regularly scheduled Evesham MUA board meetings for the year will also be livestreamed and recorded, while additional meetings of the Evesham Board of Fire Commissioners will be livestreamed and recorded in May and November.
With the potential for each of these boards to have some or all of their meetings livestreamed and recorded this year, residents will have yet another convenient method where they can stay informed of the business being carried out by their local, governmental entities.
“As I’ve said before – we want the business of government to be as transparent and accessible as possible for all members of our community,” Mayor Jaclyn Veasy said. “I’m happy to report that our township continues to be forward thinking by partnering with other local agencies to do all we can to ensure Evesham’s residents remain informed citizens.”
The livestreaming and recording of Evesham Township Council meetings also continues to be met with an overwhelmingly positive response from Evesham’s residents, staff and elected officials.
Initial response was so favorable last year, that just three months after the township began livestreaming and recording council meetings, the township also began livestreaming and recording all meetings of the Evesham Township Planning Board and Evesham Township Zoning Board as well.
Moving forward, all regular board meetings for the Evesham MUA in 2020 are currently scheduled to take place in the courtroom of the township’s municipal building, located at 984 Tuckerton Road, Marlton, NJ 08053.
For the Evesham Board of Fire Commissioners, meetings for January, May and November are currently scheduled to take place in the courtroom of the township’s municipal building, while all other currently scheduled meetings for the year will continue to take place at Marlton Fire Station 221, 26 E. Main St.
