Senior chosen as the commander of Seneca’s JROTC Air Force unit

Press release from Seneca High School.

Seneca senior Cadet Major Zackery Beach has been chosen as the Corps Commander of Seneca’s Air Force Junior ROTC Unit for the 2019 – 2020 fall semester.

The Corps Commander is the first cadet in the JROTC chain of command. Zack will be responsible for directing the entire unit and providing sound leadership and mentorship to his staff and all the cadets. He will also be responsible for establishing and enforcing appearance, discipline, training and conduct standards.

“I look forward to leading my unit,” Zack said. “My goals include reaching out to community organizations to offer our volunteer services and successfully guiding my unit to meet the standards of the national AFJROTC. The Corps Commander position will help me become an effective leader when I enter the military next year.”

For the past three years, Cadet Maj. Beach has participated on the Drill Team, Color Guard and Raider Team.

“Zack was selected because he leads by example and has consistently excelled inside the classroom and within the community,” AFJROTC Instructor Lt. Col. Greg Sevening said. “The Cadet Commander position is Corps’ top job and critical to not only leading the unit in the right direction, but ensuring good order and discipline as he takes them to new heights. Cadet Beach was the right one for the job. He has a deep commitment to the unit and his fellow cadets.”

Beach has already made a difference to the unit by effectively holding staff meetings each week, assigning cadets with functional jobs and responsibilities, as well as starting communications to increase the service opportunities in the community.
