South Jersey Kids Expo offers free fun

The South Jersey Kids Expo returns to deliver another afternoon packed with free entertainment on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The event, co-sponsored by The Sun Newspapers and Camden County Parks and Recreation, is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cooper River Park between LaScala Birra and the Camden County Boathouse.

“We are really excited to partner with Camden County Parks and Rec again for this event,” said Michelle A. Donnelly, Newspaper Media Group director of marketing and events. “Last year we brought more than 1,000 people from Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties to the park for a day of family-filled fun, so we’re hoping to grow this event every year.”

Vendors will have tables at the expo, educating and sharing information on companies offering services for families and children. And don’t forget your gently used and new books – nonprofit BookSmiles will be collecting books to donate to local students and families.

Children can jump to their heart’s content on moon bounces and inflatables courtesy of J-Dogs Catering & Amusements, which will also bring an array of carnival games to the event. For kids hoping to make a new furry or feathered friend, Farm Friends LLC will be bringing farm animals. There will also be a chance to get up-close-and-personal with fictional heroes with Laura’s Princess Appearances: Ice Queen will be visiting from 3 to 4 p.m., Spider Hero from 4 to 5 p.m. and Polynesian Princess from 5 to 6 p.m. Food vendors include Matty G Dogz and Rita’s Water Ice of Cinnaminson. Live music is provided by Camden County Parks and Recreation partners B101 and La Mega.

To date, this year’s vendors include: Code Ninjas, ESS, Duvall for Congress, Speak to Me Kids, HulaFrog, Panther Comics, Stormwatch Comics, Mathnasium of Cherry Hill, Usborne Books, Patient First, Bancroft, Au Pair in America, Dentistry for Special People, BookSmiles, Odyssey of the Mind, Rowan Medicine, Action Karate, St. John of God Community Services, Camden County Department of Children’s Services, Community Planning & Advocacy Council, and Top Golf.

While the South Jersey Kids Expo is free, pre-registration is requested online at nmg.ticketleap.com/kids2019/. A full vendor list is available on the website.

Rain date is Wednesday, Aug. 28. In the event of inclement weather, pre-registered participants will be emailed an update. An update will also be posted on the event’s Facebook page.
