Another round of mosquito spraying will take place in Gloucester Township early Friday morning.
Some streets in the township will be sprayed for mosquitos between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. Spraying is done on an as-needed basis based on the results of the Camden County Mosquito Commission’s surveillance efforts.
“Tonight’s forecast is clear, but spots of standing water may still be left over from rain and storms earlier in the week,” said Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Mosquito Commission. “Mosquitos need standing water to breed so the first thing you should do after any rain is check your yard and remove any standing water to help eliminate the threat. This simple act can help reduce the pest population in your neighborhood, and assist the efforts of the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission.”
The following streets in Gloucester Township will be sprayed for mosquitos:
- Kearsley Road
- Kearsley Cour
- Diana Drive
- Kenwyck Court
- Washington Avenue
- Hilltop Avenue
- Walnut Avenue
- Chestnut Avenue
- E Maple Avenue
- E Oak Avenue
- Oak Avenue
- W Maple Avenue
- Lower Landing Road
- Landing Road
- N Black Horse Pike
- Old Black Horse Pike
- Brewer Avenue
- W Batten
- Garden Avenue
- E Warsaw Avenue
- Camden Avenue
- Pulaski Avenue
“The commission works with the Public Health Environmental Laboratories in Trenton to verify the presence of West Nile Virus and other communicable diseases in their samples,” Nash said. “If a pool tests positive, the Mosquito Commission returns to spray the area. The sprayings take place when the mosquitoes are most active.”
Mosquito spray is not harmful to humans or pets. Anyone who is sensitive to irritants or has respiratory concerns should avoid direct contact.
