An educational workshop titled “30 Minutes on Medicare Basics: What Baby Boomers Need to Know About Medicare” has been scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 17 and again on Aug. 7 at 9000 Lincoln Drive East, Suite 300, in Marlton.
According to those at Family Wealth Management, a recent survey by the Bankers Life and Casualty Company found that 57 percent of baby boomers said they had a “poor understanding” or know “almost nothing” about Medicare.
That same survey found that 72 percent did not know that most Americans on Medicare pay premiums, copays, and deductibles.
One in seven also thought Medicare was free, and only 14 percent knew that Medicare does not cover long-term care.
With those statistics in mind, the educational workshops will cover the following:
- What Medicare is, who is eligible for it, and how does one get it.
- Who needs to enroll in Medicare and when.
- The two ways to have Medicare – and how to choose.
- What Medicare costs, and how to mitigate those costs through private insurance.
- How to start planning for future healthcare costs.
This workshop is purely educational. No specific insurance or investment products will be discussed.
