AL’s chorAl,. an interfaith choir of 43 senior citizens ranging in age from 50 to 96 from South Jersey and Philadelphia, will perform on June 23 at Temple Beth Sholom located at 1901 Kresson Road in Cherry Hill at 2 p.m. Rabbi Lewis, known for his singing and love of music, served for 60 years as Temple Beth Sholom’s spiritual leader. The choir was created by his daughter, Gilah Lewis Sietz, in memory of her father.

The program will include a performance by a 13-year-old accomplished pianist and composer, Jeremy Raden, a Cherry Hill seventh grader who will perform his original compositions. The choir is conducted by professional musician Anne-Marie Mendonca and accompanied by Philadelphia pianist Alex Ayala.

According to Sietz, who founded the choir for senior citizens after the passing of her father in 2008, the choir is a tribute to her father’s love for music and for bringing people of all faiths together.

“There are no auditions to join, just a desire to sing,” she said.

The group rehearses most Monday evenings at Temple Beth Sholom and performs for many organizations throughout the year.

Tickets for the performance are $10 at the door. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served and gift baskets will be raffled off.
