Special Olympic Torch Run family craft at the Palmyra Community Center

Participants will be creating custom torch signs highlighting their special needs athlete, family member or support for NJ Special Olympics and the Summer Games.

The Palmyra Community Center Program Board is hosting a family craft night Saturday, June 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the community center, to make crafts that show support for special needs athletes and the runners in the 2019 Olympic Torch Run as it comes through Palmyra on June 7.

From the Community Center Program Board website:

“This event is for special needs families and those that support them. Palmyra and surrounding towns can come together and create a craft to show our hometown spirit and support for NJ Special Olympics. The Torch Run, which is the lead event for the summer games, will be coming through our town on June 7 and we want to be ready! Join Kate Johnson, Special Education Art Teacher of Orchard Friends School in Riverton, as families make a custom torch sign highlighting their special needs athlete, family member or support for NJ Special Olympics and the Summer Games.”

According to officials, all materials will be provided by the Palmyra Community Center Programs Board. All children participating must be accompanied by an adult.

To register, visit the community center website at palmyracommunitycenter.com.
