Mantua Township patrol summary, May 7 – May 15

The following are on file at the Mantua Township Police Department.

May 7

  • Officers responded to a report of a missing juvenile female who did not return home as of 3 a.m.  She was quickly located at a friend’s house.
  • Officers assisted the Pitman Police with a robbery in their town.
  • Units responded to a low hanging wire on Glassboro Road.
  • Patrols responded to a crash that had occurred on Glassboro Road in Wenonah involving a single vehicle that needed to be towed.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Glassboro Road.
  • Officers assisted a motorist who had locked his keys in his vehicle at the Home Depot.
  • Units responded to a subject who was continually calling a cab company in Camden and requesting that they deliver drugs to him.

May 8

  • Ptl. Krieger located a vehicle that had just been stolen from Woodbury City and attempted to stop the vehicle. A short pursuit started and driver stopped, and was arrested for numerous charges.
  • Ptl. Donovan and his K-9 partner, Boomer, assisted the Glassboro Police with a suspicious package, believed to be a homemade bomb.
  • Officers assisted the Harrison Police with a subject armed with a knife refusing to surrender. He was quickly apprehended.
  • Units responded to a crash on Pinebrook Drive in which a parked vehicle was struck.
  • Patrols responded to a crash that had occurred on Glassboro Road in which a vehicle sideswiped another trying to change lanes.
  • Units responded to a crash on Route 45 by the Telford Inn in which one vehicle refused to merge with another.
  • Units responded to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife.
  • Patrols responded to a burglary to a home while the homeowner was away for the weekend.
  • Ptl. Oldrati arrested a subject for outstanding warrants. He was processed and released.
  • Ptl. Layton responded to a suspicious vehicle and found the operator to have outstanding warrants. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

May 9

  • Units responded to a vehicle that had struck a tree, knocking off a branch into the roadway.
  • Patrols responded to an unwanted person where the ex-boyfriend was continually knocking on his ex’s door.
  • Patrols responded to a three-vehicle crash on Glassboro Road in which two vehicles needed to be towed and a subject was transported to the hospital with a hand injury.
  • Officers responded to a crash on Center Street in the area of New Street in which a vehicle struck a pole and needed to be towed.
  • Officers took a report in which a female was a victim of cyber harassment.
  • Officers assisted the Woodbury Heights Police with a fight.
  • Units assisted a subject who had locked his keys in his vehicle at his house.

May 10

  • Units responded to a neighbor complaint because one neighbor had cut his grass too far, cutting the complainant’s grass.
  • Officers took a criminal mischief report at the Home Depot. The caller believes his tires were cut there by an ex.
  • Units took a harassment complaint for a realtor who was interested in buying a house that was not for sale.
  • Units responded to a neighbor complaint in which one neighbor thought the caller attempted to run over his wife and dog.
  • Officers responded to solicitor complaint in the Centre City development.
  • Units took a harassment complaint as he keeps getting threatening phone calls on his business line.
  • Officers responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Home Depot store.
  • Units also responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Timberline Shopping Center.
  • Ptl. Mroz and his K-9 partner, Zuke, assisted the Deptford Police with a vehicle sniff in which there was a positive indication. The subject was arrested for possession and distribution charges.
  • Officers responded to a firework complaint.
  • Units responded to a crash on Pitman Road at Lambs Road where one vehicle needed to be towed and a patient needed to go to the hospital for precautions.

May 11

  • Units responded to a hit-and-run crash that had occurred earlier in the day.
  • Officers responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of Incarnation Church.
  • Patrols responded for a report of a crash where a single vehicle struck a tree on Route 45.
  • Officers conducted their monthly car seat safety trainings at the Mantua Fire House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where the public can just show up and make sure their car seat is installed correctly by specially trained officers.
  • Units responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of Total Turf.
  • Officers took a theft report from the Barnsboro Inn.

May 12

  • Officers supervised community service workers who cleaned up litter throughout the township.
  • Units responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Home Depot.
  • Units responded to a tree that had fallen across Main Street. Officers stood by until the fire department could clear the roadway.
  • Officers responded to the Taco Bell for a customer who had been there for 8 hours and refused to leave.
  • Officers responded to a tree that had fallen across the railroad tracks in Wenonah. Conrail was notified to correct the problem.
  • Officers assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle at the Route 45 car wash.

May 13

  • Units responded to a residence in Wenonah that smelled natural gas inside the house.
  • Officers responded to the Wawa on Route 45 for a report of a man panhandling.
  • Officers assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle at Jims Pizza.
  • Patrols responded to a family dispute that only involved yelling at each other.
  • Units took a report for harassment where the victim’s sister was leaving threatening voicemails.
  • Ptl. Layton arrested a subject for an active warrant. He was processed and released.
  • Ptl. Oldrati arrested two subjects for possession of drugs.
  • Officers responded to a report of a natural gas leak inside a residence on Center Street.

May 14

  • Units responded to the Dunkin Donuts in the Timberline Shopping Center because it was burglarized overnight.
  • Ptl. Donovan taught L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) at Wenonah Elementary.
  • Officers took a harassment complaint in which a male’s ex was harassing his new girlfriend.
  • School Resource Officers responded to the Centre City School as a parent was not allowed to pick up their child, as they did not have proper identification.
  • Units responded to the Wawa on Route 45 for a parking complaint.

May 15

  • Units responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Glassboro Road.
  • Officers responded to a crash on Route 45 and Main Street in which one driver did not have a license. Their vehicle was impounded, and several tickets were issued.
  • Patrols responded to a crash in the area of the Telford Inn in which one patient was treated for a minor head injury.
  • Officers responded to a neighbor complaint in which one neighbor is allowed their dog to roam the caller’s yard.
  • Units responded to two loose dogs. Officers were able to find the proper owners and took the dogs to them.
  • Patrols responded to a four-vehicle crash on Glassboro Road by Mantua Avenue in Wenonah.
  • Patrols responded to a subject who had died inside his house.
