The Evesham Twinning Association will have an “Open Forum Meeting” on Monday, April 8, at The Gibson House Community Center, located at 535 E. Main St., at 7 p.m.
Officials say the Evesham Twinning Association have had a reciprocal relationship with Evesham, England for more 30 years and have been officially “twinned” since 1989.
Refreshments will be enjoyed at the group’s upcoming meeting, and members of the public are invited to join and learn more about the organization. There is no fee to attend.
At the upcoming meeting, the group will also discuss general business and information about the association’s upcoming trip to Evesham, England.
Of note, interest in travel to the group’s namesake town in England was overwhelming. As such, the trip is now full, and additional travelers can not be accommodated.
In addition, a fundraising dinner, silent auction and basket sale will be held on Friday, May 17, at The Medford Village Country Club, located at 28 Golfview Drive in Medford, at 6:30 p.m.
The cost to attend is $38 per person, with dinner consisting of three entree choices. There will also be a cash bar.
Officials describe the dinner as “a fun event” where non-members are also welcome.
The Evesham Twinning Association is a non-profit organization, where funds raised go toward supporting the organization and hosting visitors as travelers pay their individual travel expenses and stay in host families’ homes.
The Evesham Twinning Association sponsors visits between people in various countries to promote relationships among different cultures.
According to officials, twinning began in Europe after World War II and Evesham is among several American communities that have adopted the concept to promote peace in the world.
