Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Lyman Barnes announced last Tuesday that the inspection stickers that appear on all devices inspected and tested by the County Office of Weights and Measures have been changed as of January of this year.
Residents may have noticed that the New Jersey Office of Weights and Measures has issued new inspection stickers that are now square rather than round, and have the year of inspection and a serial number printed on the front of the sticker.
The blue-sealed sticker is affixed to all devices that have passed a rigorous testing process that are regulated by the New Jersey Office of Weights and Measures and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said, “It is important for residents to take note of any orange-sealed sticker, as they are placed on all devices that do not pass the testing process. Any business located in Gloucester County that has this type of sticker should not be using that device.”
The Gloucester County Office of Weights and Measures implemented and starting using the new stickers on all devices tested since January 2019 and will continue throughout the year.
Freeholder Lyman Barnes, Liaison to Department of Consumer Protection, said, “Residents should look for the new stickers on gas pumps, deli scales, laundromats, registers in supermarkets, and any other weights and measure devices that our officers in Gloucester County have inspected.”
On most laundromat machines the sticker is on or near the faceplate where the coins are inserted.
The New Jersey Office of Weights and Measures is in the process of creating a web portal where all consumers will be able to view inspection reports by using the serial number printed on the sticker that is affixed to the device in question.
