The Delran Green Team will be giving out free tree seedlings on Saturday, April 6, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Conrow Road Park, located at 150 Haines Mill Road.
The trees are provided by the state Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Parks and Forestry, as part of the New Jersey Tree Recovery Program.
According to the Arbor Day Foundation, the New Jersey Tree Recovery campaign is a partnership between the Foundation and the state Forestry Service.
The campaign focuses on providing trees to homeowners and communities who lost their urban canopy in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
To date, more than 332,982 trees have been distributed.
The Delran Green Team will be giving out bare root seedlings ranging in size from 6 inches to 24 inches, depending on species.
The NJDEP selects seedlings appropriate to the region of the state where they will be distributed.
Residents are then free to plant these seedlings in their yard.
In turn, the Delran Green Team requests that those who receive a seedling send the team a photo if the seedling survives the winter.
