The learning institute’s spring courses will begin enrolling students next week.
The Saltzman Foundation’s Life Long Learning Institute at the Katz JCC offers countless opportunities for adults of all ages to expand their knowledge, meet new friends and keep their minds sharp. Registration for the spring 2019 session, which runs throughout April, May and June, opens for JCC members on Wednesday, March 27 and to the community on Friday, March 29. Courses span a wide range of subjects including film appreciation, history, literature and fine art, current events, music and more.
Classes this semester will take you into the musical world of George Gershwin and choreographer Twyla Tharp, Hollywood starlet Lana Turner and the life and work of Bob Hope. Celebrate positive aging on screen with a screening of the heartfelt film “I’ll See You in My Dream” starring Blythe Danner and Sam Elliot, or take part in an interactive discussion on sleep with JCC wellness lifestyle coach Liz Curran. Jump headfirst into 20th century art by Jewish artists, keep up to date on current events and political hot topics, or get creative in Christine’s art class.
In addition, two trips to the Big Apple this spring include an afternoon at the acclaimed New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center on May 5 as exceptional dancers perform dances from Barber, Broadway and Balanchine. On Sunday, June 23, hop on the bus for “Tootsie: New Broadway Musical.” Based on the popular movie from the 1980s, Tootsie centers on a talented but difficult actor who finds himself struggling for work, but a desperate stunt lands him the role of a lifetime. Both trips include coach transportation from Cherry Hill to New York City.
