County job fair, workshop scheduled

Press release from Gloucester County.

Gloucester County will hold a Mega Job Fair on March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the RCGC Gymnasium. The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Workforce Development Board (WDB) encourages residents to attend one of the WDB’s free advance workshops to be prepared for the fair.

“The Mega Job Fair is one of the largest job-seeking resources the county has to offer, benefiting both employers and applicants on a large scale,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “It is a great way to connect, network, and even interview on the spot with over one hundred different employers who need new employees.”

Freeholder Heather Simmons, Liaison to the Department of Economic Development said that as of October, over 2,000 job seekers were introduced to a variety of companies in Gloucester County seeking to hire.

“The workshops are an excellent way to help jobs seekers prepare for the upcoming Mega Job Fair,” said Simmons. “The workshops focus on resume writing, interview techniques and other important aspects to improve an applicant’s chances of being hired either on the spot, or in the near future.”
Attendees should make sure to dress in business appropriate clothing, bring copies of their resume, and be prepared for the possibility of an immediate interview.

To help job seekers prepare for the Mega Job Fair, the WDB is offering free workshops where attendees can learn job fair strategies, social media techniques, and how to improve their resumes from experts.

Workshops will take place on March 19 and 27 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mid-Atlantic States Career and Education Center (55 Delaware St., Woodbury).

Registration is required to attend the workshops. To register, visit www.GloucesterCountyNJ.gov.
