Crash behind Home Goods results in one dead

A vehicle drove partially under a semi-trailer that was parked in the loading dock of the store.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Moorestown Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash at the rear of the Home Goods Store on Route 38. According to the department’s Facebook page, the officers came upon a vehicle had driven partially under a semi-trailer that was parked in the loading dock of the store and had struck the side of the trailer in the process.

The vehicle and trailer were on fire when police arrived, according to the post. Moorestown, Lenola, Maple Shade and Mt. Laurel Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. The fire took some time to extinguish because the as the trailer was filled with cardboard.

When the fire was extinguished, rescuers discovered the male driver was deceased.

“Moorestown Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and the identity of the driver with the assistance of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office,” the Facebook post said.
