Mayor’s Message: Light Up Red for the month of February

Gloucester Township to partake in America Goes Red For Women, a campaign designed to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke

Mayor David R. Mayer

Gloucester Township is joining The American Heart Association and municipalities across the country in America Goes Red For Women, a campaign designed to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke.

Heart disease is often thought of as a “man’s disease,” however, many people fail to realize that heart disease is also the leading cause of death in women in the United States. Beginning on Friday, Feb. 1, National Wear Red Day, and continuing for the duration of the month, the Gloucester Township Municipal Building and Gloucester Township Public Works buildings will be illuminated red to support this cause.

For the past decade, the state of New Jersey has ranked №1 in the country for having the most illuminated buildings supporting National Wear Red Day. New Jersey had roughly 85 landmarks, buildings and properties illuminated red in 2018. We are thrilled to be a part of this national awareness month once again and to spread the word about the importance of heart health.
