MFS to host annual camp fair

This marks the 27th year MFS has held this event.

Moorestown Friends School will host its 27th Annual Camp Fair and Discovery Day on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school’s Baiada Field House. This is the largest camp fair in South Jersey, featuring more than 50 camps that will come to campus to highlight their programs. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. Refreshments and lunch will be available for purchase. The Camp Fair is sponsored by the MFS Parent Council.

This year will feature a special guest. The Phillie Phanatic will make a guest appearance during the event from noon to 1 p.m. HousePaws Vets in Training will sponsor a petting zoo.

A wide variety of summer camps will be represented, including day and residential camps for students in preschool through high school. There will be camps offering exciting and comprehensive programs in sports, science, technology, ecology, theater, arts, travel, academics, equestrian and more. Examples of new camps exhibiting this year include the Cooper River Yacht Club, which offers sessions for students and adults interested in recreational and competitive sailing, and Adirondack Woodcraft Camps, a New York residential camp program with an emphasis on outdoor leadership and wilderness living skills.

The Camp Fair will also feature programs that offer opportunities to travel internationally. For instance, Oxbridge Academic Programs organizes summer programs with a focus on intellectual enrichment and cultural immersion. Global Works runs a service-based program with international trips to Central and South America, Europe, China, Africa and the South Pacific. Other travel camps attending include Putney Student Travel, Rustic Pathways and ActionQuest GoBeyond.

Moorestown Friends School Summer Programs, which will be represented at the camp fair, provides opportunities for children to innovate, create, experiment and collaborate with others. Summer Programs courses are available to students from age three to 17, and many programs are led by Moorestown Friends School teachers. All programs take full advantage of the beautiful 48-acre Moorestown Friends School campus: classroom, labs, athletic fields, four gymnasiums and an outdoor pool.

Members of the MFS Admissions staff will be on site for school information and tours.
