Women and girls across the area are invited to enjoy the performance on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m.
Women and girls are invited to attend a production performed and produced by an inter-generational cast of local Jewish women at the Katz JCC on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m.
The audience will enjoy a variety of Broadway-style music, dance, and acting. This project came about out of a desire to bring together a performance-driven, multi-generational group of women from throughout the Jewish community to produce a musical performance. While many women enjoy performing, there are few if any outlets that take into account the specific needs related to Jewish observance and that make participation feasible for those with already full schedules. The production was made to be inclusive of all Jewish women wanting to appear on stage with a schedule and program mindful of the Jewish calendar and observance as well as sensitive to the time constraints that many women experience. For that reason the cast is comprised of both seasoned entertainers as well as many who are returning to the performing arts for the first time in decades.
The show is directed and choreographed by Marlene Silberman with vocal direction by Abi Sanie. Funding was generously provided by a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Southern New Jersey. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door and can be bought online at bywomen4women2019.eventbrite.com.
