Cherry Hill Public Library unveils its Veterans Wall of Honor
The Cherry Hill Public Library is memorializing hundreds of Cherry Hill veterans in a special way. The library unveiled its Veterans Wall of Honor during a ceremony last Sunday. Veterans, active members and family and friends of military members were asked to submit 5-by-7 photos and information about their branch, rank and other details describing their military service. The library received more than 250 submissions for the wall.
Cherry Hill East welcomes public to witness ‘The Man Who Came to Dinner’
The theater department at Cherry Hill High School East is gearing up for its 2018 fall play, “The Man Who Came to Dinner.” The show will open at Cherry Hill East’s auditorium on Dec. 6 and will feature a red and white cast. The Sun paid a visit to Cherry Hill East last Monday to speak with members of the cast about the three-act comedy.
Arcaroli shows poise, toughness in first full year as Cherry Hill West quarterback
Sophomore Nick Arcaroli was able to emerge as a solid quarterback for Cherry Hill West in 2018, but it was his performance in last Wednesday’s game against rival Cherry Hill East that opened some eyes. Despite taking a number of big hits and having to leave the game for a few plays with a leg injury, Arcaroli threw for two touchdown passes to help the Lions to their sixth win of the season.
November Athlete of the Month: Goculdas establishes herself as one of South Jersey’s top tennis players
There aren’t many high school tennis players who can match up with Cherry Hill East’s Pallavi Goculdas. The girls tennis team’s first singles player for the past two seasons, Goculdas is The Sun’s Athlete of the Month for November after having a dominating 2018. Goculdas reached the finals of the South Jersey Interscholastic Tennis Championships and was one of the top 16 seeds in the NJSIAA Girls Tennis Singles Tournament
A tribute to a Cherry Hill World War II veteran
Last week, a Cherry Hill resident told the story of her father, a Navy veteran who entered the service during World War II. Marci Zayon wrote a heartfelt tribute about her father, Simon. Simon is involved in various local community groups and told his story about serving in the military at a local school. Marci believes Simon story is a reminder that residents should thank veterans for their service every day.
