Eastern girls soccer advances to Group IV state championship

The Vikings defeated Hunterdon Central, 2–1, in double overtime to advance to the title game.

Eastern’s Klio Kokolus scored the game-winning goal for the Vikings in Tuesday night’s NJSIAA Group IV state semifinal game.

Another dramatic victory has Eastern Regional High School girls soccer one win away from a state championship.

On Tuesday night, the Vikings edged out Hunterdon Central, 2–1, to advance to the NJSIAA Group IV state championship game on Sunday. According to the box score posted to nj.com, Eastern won the game on a goal from freshman Klio Kokolus in the second overtime period.

The Vikings also got a goal in the second half from junior Kelli McGroarty. Both teams scored in the period, sending the game to overtime, where Kokolis scored the game-winner.

Eastern will take on Bridgewater-Raritan High School for the state championship on Sunday. The game will be played at Kean University beginning at 10 a.m.
