Mark Dibble, CEO of YMCA Camp Ockanickon in Medford spoke to a group at a recent Community Leaders Forum held at the Stokes Road camp.
Earlier this month, Ockanickon invited local leaders from government, law enforcement, education, business and religious institutions to share a meal and to discuss challenges facing the community at large.
Dibble talked about how camp spends more than $600,000 a year offering free and subsidized programs to children and families in need. He also talked about the camp’s year-round teen leaders club, its healthy food initiative, its partnering to fight the opioid crisis and its attempt to be more inclusive in all camp programming.
He and other camp staff member’s brainstormed ideas with the community leaders.
Dibble said that camp remains committed to being a relevant partner to the neighboring community.
The forum was held at the dining hall at Camp Matollionequay, the girl’s camp at Ockanickon.
