Letter to the Editor: Cast your votes for BOE elections

Solitro encourages residents to get to know who’s running for the Board of Education.

Moorestown friends, if you care about the quality of the education delivered by our schools, I urge you vote in the Board of Education election on Nov. 6.

The board is responsible for making and implementing policies that directly impact our children’s education, and yet voter turn-out in Moorestown is surprisingly low. Only 43 percent of registered voters cast ballots in November 2017.

If you feel uninformed, don’t let that deter you. The Meet the Candidates Night on Oct. 29 at 7:30 pm at the William Allen Middle School is your opportunity to hear from the candidates and ask them questions. You can also view their campaign pages on Facebook.

One candidate is a particular stand-out this year: Dria Law. Law’s campaign promises are true to her character: dedication, integrity and collaboration.

Law cares deeply about our schools and community. She’s a long-time volunteer in our schools and held leadership roles in Home and School and the Special Education Advocacy Council. She is very knowledgeable on educational policy and graduated from New Jersey Partners in Policymaking. She sincerely listens to all opinions with an open mind and advocates for open, respectful communication and cooperation. She’s the type of person who’d urge you to exercise your right to vote, even if you intended to vote for her opponent.

With Dria Law on the board, your voice will be heard.

And I’m hopeful more Moorestown voices will carry at the voting booths on Nov. 6!

Tamara Solitro, MD
