Practices for kids up through fifth grade to begin on Nov. 12
Children from Kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to join a tradition that dates back to 1949 here in Haddonfield — wrestling.
Haddonfield Memorial High School has produced some of the region’s top wrestlers including several state champions and national competitors.
“Along with developing a solid foundation in wrestling and athletics in general, children will benefit from a positive social experience in a sport that encourages independence and self reliance.” said former wrestler and current HMHS principal Chuck Klaus.
The youth program is very closely aligned with the high school program and head coach Mike Miller. Coach Miller is currently a history teacher, football coach and former Haddonfield wrestler.
All of the youth practices take place at the high school wrestling room. Practice begins the week of Nov. 12.
The practices are split between grades K-2 and grades 3–5. All match opponents are assigned based on age, weight and skill level. All matches are coached by certified Haddonfield coaches and supervised by professional referees.
Middle School wrestlers are encouraged to participate in both the Haddonfield Middle School program (see MS office for registration) and the youth program (see website for registration).
