Burlington Vicinage celebrates Constitution and Citizenship Day

Eighteen Burlington County residents originating from 13 countries will become citizens of the United States.

On Thursday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m., the vicinage will host a Citizen Naturalization Ceremony in the historic Olde Courthouse. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Jose L. Linares will join Acting Assignment Judge Jeanne T. Covert to preside over this ceremony.

Eighteen Burlington County residents originating from 13 countries will recite their Oath of Allegiance and become citizens of the United States.

The Rancocas Valley High School JROTC will open the ceremony by presenting the colors, students from Rancocas Valley High School will sing the national anthem, and students from Sacred Heart School will recite the preamble to the U.S. Constitution. Judge Covert will read a proclamation declaring Constitution and Citizenship Day.

Remarks will be delivered by Judge Linares as well as Ya-Mai Chen, field office director for the Department of Homeland Security, Christina Cottingham of the Willingboro-Burlington Chapter of the N.J. Orators, Burlington County Bar Association President Jennifer Stonerod, and Shereen Chen, attorney from the law firm of Chen Gray Law Group LLC.

Judge Gerard Breland will close the ceremony by singing America the Beautiful.
