Memorial Field plans on hold
At the most recent meeting of Moorestown Township Council, residents packed nearly every seat in Town Hall’s Council Chambers to discuss Memorial Field. Residents expressed an array of concerns about how proposed updates to the facility could impact neighbors in the surrounding area. Deputy Mayor Manuel Delgado initiated the discussion by informing the crowd any proposed plans are on hold. He said given the amount of mail council has received regarding Memorial Field and the large showing of residents at the meeting, council recognizes the plan needs more work.

Nearly five years ago, Pat Carey was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Since that time, he said he’s become a bit shaky and his memory isn’t what it once was. But something special happens when Carey plays his harmonica. His Parkinson’s symptoms go away for as long as he is playing.
“When I’m playing I don’t have it,” Carey said. “That’s why I keep doing it.”
Township to extend fiber optic network
At its most recent meeting, Moorestown Township Council passed an ordinance appropriating $980,000 to extend the township’s private fiber network. Township Manager Thomas Neff said the extension will connect all of township water and wastewater treatment facilities to the network. He said this will enable the township to have data in real time. He said the extension will also give the township to access all of the water facilities’ cameras at a central location, which will add another degree of security. Neff said the extension is not a state requirement. He said the goal is simply to improve service, safety and data collection.
