The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli
Burger Barr
On Aug. 24, I was happy to join owners Joshua Hemingway and George Mashas of Burger Barr in celebrating their official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. Also present at the grand opening, was Washington Township Chamber member, Nicole Lannutti, Chamber President, Brian Bailey and Dean Auer of Jefferson Health in Washington Township. Burger Barr is also a participant of the Shop Washington Township Program and offers residents a 7.50% rebate on their third quarter property taxes. If you are interested in seeing (or tasting) what Burger Barr has to offer, please visit their website at https://burgerbarr.com/ or their location at 508 Hurffville Cross-Keys Rd., #13, Sewell. I wish Burger Barr continued success in Washington Township.

Baseball team presented with proclamation
I was recently informed of an extraordinary baseball team that has achieved great strides in their sport. The Washington Township 13u travel baseball team had traveled to many different states to compete in national competitions. They played teams from Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana. Due to their dedication and perseverance, they defeated South Carolina in one of the national tournaments. I am told from their coach, that these young men are a close-knit group of athletes that not only work together on the baseball field, but off the field as well. On Aug. 28, I was happy to present this young group of athletes with a proclamation for all of their recent achievements in the sport of baseball. I wish them continued success in their sport, as well as in their academics. I would like to thank Council Vice President Sean Longfellow for also being there to support the 13u baseball team. I would also like to thank the coaches and assistant coaches for doing such a wonderful job in teaching these young men the importance of teamwork.
