Marissa Wolf of Mt. Laurel will be in the show at the West Windsor Arts Center in Princeton Junction starting Sept. 21.
There have been a million Juliets, but Marissa Wolf of Mt. Laurel gets to be one of the first actors to portray Heather, one half of one of the couples at the center of “Human Error,” a new comedy by Eric Pfeffinger making its east coast premiere at Pegasus Theatre Company in Princeton Junction this September.
In “Human Error,” Madelyn and Keenan — socialist-leaning, NPR listening, blue-state liberals — discover their embryos have been mistakenly implanted in Heather (Wolf). To make matters worse, Heather and Jim are Christian, NRA card-holding, red-state conservatives. Faced with this case of “mistaken fertility,” the couples navigate their way through a tumultuous nine months of culture clash and hilarity.
The new comedy deals with the division in the country in a way that is fair to both sides and might just reveal that each side has more in common than previously thought. Using laughs to expose humanity, “Human Error” is meant to be a hilarious, touching, and sometimes sad trip through the reality of being an American today.
Wolf explained, “I do theater because there have been times that I’ve gone to the theatre and seen work that has moved me in a way that no other art form can. It is my hope that, at least once in my life, I can do that for someone else.”
When asked about what drew her to the play and this role, Wolf said, “This show is funny. So many things about this play ring true to the time we are currently living in. A time where the left seems so left and the right seems so right and everything seems incredibly polarized by ideological extremes. But maybe we actually have more in common than we think we do.”
Wolf holds an MFA in acting from Ohio University and a BFA from NYU. She is Adjunct Acting Professor at Kean University in Union and a teaching artist at Mainstage Center for the Arts in Blackwood.
“Human Error,” will run Sept. 21 through Sept. 30 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. at the West Windsor Arts Center, 952 Alexander Road, Princeton Junction.
