State Senator Troy Singleton partnering in back-to-school supply drive

Locals can volunteer to help organize supplies on Aug. 18 or donate supplies at Singleton’s office in Moorestown.

For his Aug. “Serve with Senator Singleton” event, State Senator Troy Singleton will partner with Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington to volunteer at its “Kick Back with a Backpack” back-to-school supply drive.

With the help of Tabernacle Baptist Church’s Mission Ministry, the senator and volunteers will organize donated school supplies and then proceed to fill backpacks, which will be distributed to area children before the start of the school year.

The event will take place at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 150 E. 2nd St. in Burlington on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. Anyone interested in volunteering can RSVP here: http://www.senatorsingleton.com/back_to_school_supply_drive.

“It is truly a privilege to partner with Tabernacle Baptist Church for our August service event,” said Singleton, who represents Burlington as part of the 7th Legislative District, which includes Mt. Laurel. “We are thrilled to volunteer our time and services with a purposeful, passionate group to ensure that the children of Burlington and surrounding communities have the resources they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.”

Additionally, if anyone would like to donate school supplies, they can drop them off at Singleton’s office at 400 N. Church St., Suite 260 in Moorestown between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Needed supplies include backpacks, binders, folders, notebooks, index cards, pens, pencils, glue sticks, rulers, pencils, pencil cases, crayons, highlighters, markers and erasers. Supplies can be dropped off until Friday, Aug. 17.

This event will be Singleton’s eighth “Serve with Singleton” event since he became a state senator in January.

The Burlington Tabernacle Baptist Church prioritizes having a positive impact on its community through worship, education, preaching, and service. The faith-based group offers numerous services and events to better its community spiritually, educationally, and physically.
