Operation led to five arrests of alleged shoplifters

On Thursday, June 29, the Gloucester Township Police Department Response Unit (ORU) and a retail police officer conducted a joint operation at the Gloucester Premium Outlets.
Officers were positioned at this location utilizing multiple deployment strategies including high visibility uniformed patrol, officer bicycle patrol and plain clothes undercover officers.
During the course of this operation a total of five individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from eight stores within the shopping center.
According to a press release issued by police department, GTPD has reduced overall crime by 34 percent and violent crime by 53 percent since 2010 in the township.
