The event will take place on Tuesday, July 3 starting at 6 p.m. at Freedom Park.
It’s been six years since Medford Township’s Annual Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Display made its return, after being cancelled for two years due the Township’s inability to fund the event through its Municipal Budget.
As the Medford Celebrates Foundation Trustees, along with their modest crew of volunteers, prepare for Medford Township’s 2018 Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza, it is evident that the continued cooperation and extreme generosity of local residents and sponsors is necessary to the continuation of this event. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 3, (rain date — Thursday, July 5) starting at 6 p.m. in Freedom Park.
The festivities will include live music featuring pop & rock band “No Commitment,” a Kid’s activity zone, and a variety of food truck and other food vendors selling a variety of foods and treats.
The Medford Celebrates Board is most pleased to announce that ShopRite of Medford is again returning as the Presenting Sponsor, having made a substantial donation to cover a large share of the costs of staging the event. Columbia Bank of Medford is also returning as the Stage Sponsor, Polymer Solutions, Inc. is back as the Vendor’s Concourse Sponsor, and YMCA Camp Ockanickon is again sponsoring the Kid’s Zone activity area.
Other area businesses that are returning as sponsors include Medford Fitness, the Archer Law Firm, Padden Cooper, LLC CPA’s, PJ Whelihan’s Restaurants, Medford Ford, Bob Meyer Communities, Century 21 Alliance/Meyer Realty, Radwell International. Inc., and the Y.A.L.E. School.
Each year, up to 30,000 regional residents attend Medford’s Independence Day Celebration, but according to Bob Egan, President of Medford Celebrates Foundation, Inc., “Hosting an event of this size for thousands of South Jersey residents and visitors costs money and takes a team of people and, frankly, cannot be shouldered by the Medford Celebrates Trustees alone,” Egan said. “Admission is technically free, but we are asking every family to contribute even a dollar for each family member who comes to watch, so that we can help assure that we can keep the fireworks going in the future.”
All who attend the event can make their donations at tents and tables at Freedom Park, or by visiting the Foundation website www.medfordcelebrates.org.
Freedom Park is located at 86 Union Street in Medford. More information about the event, including directions, parking locations and weather contingencies.
