Weekly Roundup: Evesham adopts 2018 budget, Burlington County launches school security grants

Evesham Township adopts 2018 municipal budget with slight tax decrease

Evesham residents can expect to see a slight decrease in their municipal tax bill with the township’s 2018 municipal budget. Evesham Township Council unanimously adopted this year’s $37.6 million budget at last week’s council meeting, which includes a decrease in the municipal tax rate from 43 cents per every $100 of assessed property value to 42.7 cents per every $100 of assessed property value. Those residents with a home assessed at the average value of $270,500 can expect to see an annual decrease of $6.38 in municipal taxes.

Operation Yellow Ribbon seeks U.S. service members to march in Marlton’s Fourth of July parade

Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey (OYRSJ) is looking for U.S. service members to join the non-profit military support group and lead the way as members once again will be walking and leading the Fourth of July parade down Main Street in Marlton. OYRSJ is asking members of the public to help spread the word as the group is always honored to have brave “HE-ROES and SHE-ROES” join the group in the parade.

Burlington County launches $20 Million school security grant program for public high schools

Burlington County is taking the lead in security enhancements, being the first county in the state to offer a $20 million grant program that will allow high school buildings to be more secure. Districts can apply to the county for funding to be used for capital enhancements related to school security.

Evesham Police arrest man for allegedly stalking a woman for nearly 10 years

On May 18, officials with the Evesham Township Police Department say a female arrived at the department to report that she had allegedly been stalked and harassed by an unknown person for nearly 10 years. According to police, the victim reported that she received cards, letters and inappropriate gifts a few times each year. However, the victim said that recently the activity had increased. On June 11, police say they located the male and arrested him following an interview with investigators.

The Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton announces 15th annual Summer Concert Series

The Promenade at Sagemore shopping center in Marlton has announced its 15th annual Summer Concert Series, running from July 11 to Aug. 29. Every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., music fans of all ages are invited to enjoy a variety of styles including popular rock and roll, country, blues and more.
