The group will perform three musicals this season.
Moorestown Theater Company will perform “Seussical, Kids & Character Sing-Along,” “G2K: The Sound Of Music” and “Disney’s The Lion King, Jr.” as they celebrate their sixteenth season.
- “Seussical, Kids & Character Sing-Along”:
MTC is presenting a condensed version of the classic Dr. Seuss musical. A 48-member children’s cast will perform this musical, which features such memorable characters as Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, Yertle The Turtle and The Cat In The Hat. The musical will include the songs “It’s Possible,” “Alone In The Universe” and “Green Eggs And Ham.” The Character sing-along will include Ariel, Woody, Moana and Dorothy. Audience members are encouraged to come dressed in costume as their favorite character, princess or superhero. “Seussical, Kids & Character Sing-Along” was performed at the new First Baptist Church Theater in March.
- “G2K: The Sound Of Music:”
For the fifteenth year in a row, MTC will present the musical version of the classic Disney musical as the annual spring production of the Our Lady Of Good Counsel School Drama Club. A 44-member middle school cast will perform this five-time Academy Award-winning musical which tells the true story of the Von Trapp Family and features songs such as “Maria,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi” and the title song. “G2K: The Sound Of Music” will be performed at Our Lady Of Good Counsel School on West Prospect Avenue in Moorestown on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. and Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m.
- “Disney’s The Lion King, Jr.”:
MTC is presenting a condensed version of this classic Disney musical as its annual spring children’s musical. An 85-member cast will perform this musical which features such memorable characters as Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Timon, Zazu and Rafiki and songs such as “The Circle Of Life‟ and “I Just Cant’ Wait to Be King.” Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. will be performed at William Allen Middle School on Stanwick Road in Moorestown on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 6 at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 10 at 6 p.m., Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m.
