Spring has sprung in Williamstown
Craft shows, food trucks and art festivals are just a few of the many things to look forward to in Williamstown this spring. Residents can support the Williamstown High School band at a competition, show appreciation to the town at the annual Music Festival and Town Appreciation Night, or check out vendors at the Spring Craft Show to support WHS Project Graduation.
BOE talks budget, Holly Glen plans
The 2018–19 budget, plans for relocation of Holly Glen Elementary School students and staff for the next school year and the most recent walkout in honor of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students were among topics addressed at the Monroe Township Board of Education meeting on Thursday, March 15. The board motioned to approve a budget meeting for Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m., to discuss budget topics such as priorities and how to allocate additional aid, according to business administrator and board secretary Lisa Schulz.
Poker fundraiser to benefit WHS Music Department this April
On Friday, April 6, the community is invited to attend a fundraising poker event at Chews Landing Fire Hall in Blackwood, located at 221A Somerdale Road. Life Church to host Easter egg hunt
On Saturday, March 31, a free community Easter egg hunt will commence at 1 p.m. at Life Church, located at 1509 N. Main Street. Children 11 and under are welcome to participate in the Easter activity. There will be 10,000 eggs, a big slide and fun for the family.
Fatal crash under investigation
On the afternoon of March 15, numerous 911 calls were made regarding a motor vehicle crash reported near the Star Motel. Despite rescue efforts by EMS and fire services, the driver, Kenneth Jackson, of Williamstown, succumbed to his injuries on scene. WHS student honored with leadership award
Williamstown High School’s Courteney Wiredu has made a difference by working as secretary of student council to diligently improve the school community. Widener University, in partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10, recently recognized Courteney Wiredu of Williamstown as a winner of the Widener University High School Leadership Awards.
