Students and staff at Radix Elementary School celebrated Read Across America. The activites commenced on Dr. Seuss’s birthday — March 2 — and continued throughout March 9. Students dressed up in PJ’s, wore hats, crazy socks, and other fun outfits to celebrate throughout the week. They also participated in various literature based activties in the classroom.

Monroe Township to receive grant for Forest Drive roadway improvements

Governor Phil Murphy recently announced the largest amount of Municipal Aid grant awards in New Jersey Department of Transportation history — More than $161 million is being awarded in Fiscal Year 2018 to 505 New Jersey communities. Theses will enable towns across the state to advance road, bridge, safety, and quality-of-life improvements without relying on local property taxes to complete the work. Monroe Township will be awarded a $275,000 grant to be used for Forest Drive roadway improvements, along with $64,150 in urban allotment — a total award of $339,150.

Monroe Township Library to host Blood Drive on March 15

With recent snowstorms and power outages sweeping the region, the American Red Cross is in need of local blood donations. On March 15, a blood drive will be held at the Free Public Library of Monroe Township from 2 to 7 p.m., and community members are invited to stop by and donate. To make an appointment at the library, call (800) 733–2767. The library is located at 713 Marsha Ave. in Williamstown.

Enrollment underway for Williamstown spring tennis program

The Williamstown Spring tennis program will start on Saturday, March 24 at the Williamstown Middle School tennis courts. Space is limited. For more information, or to join the email list, contact [email protected], or call (856) 307–1230. Elementary, middle, and high-school players are welcome to enroll in the $99 program.

Williamstown Chamber of Commerce held ‘Lunch N Learn’

The Williamstown Chamber of Commerce held a “Lunch N Learn” seminar on March 8, to help educate and support business people. Speakers at the event included Williamstown Chamber of Commerce president Katherine Falcone, Slotnick and Schwartz lawyer Steve Slotnick, Colavita and Volpa accountant Daniel Kamen, and Dauntless Design Collaborative architect Richard Sanford.

Ms. Dolores’ first grade class at Whitehall Elementary in Monroe Township enjoyed a day full of activities on the 100th day of school. Students rotated through stations to work on 100th day activities. Stations included making a 100 days smarter headband, creating a necklace out of 100 fruit loops, throwing a ball and trying to hit the number 100, building objects with 100 Legos, and writing 100 words.

Hedenberg joins Berkshire Hathaway

Joan Docktor, president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors welcomes Sandra Hedenberg as the new office leader of the Cherry Hill Home Marketing Center. Hedenberg resides in Williamstown and is an active member in her community. She is looking forward to forging new relationships and having great successes in her new position.
