Friends of the Library provide local museum passes for check out

Money collected through book sale efforts

History is readily available to those in Monroe Township.

The Friends of the Free Public Library of Monroe Township have provided the funds for the library to purchase museum passes to local venues.

In an attempt to provide township citizens with educational, professional, cultural and recreational information, the Friends of the Free Public Library of Monroe collected the money through events such as book sales at the library.

“The Friends of Monroe Library are a wonderful supportive group of volunteers that provide funds for many extra library programs and services for the Williamstown community. We are so appreciative of their hard work and dedication to the library,” said Samantha Snyder, an employee of the library.

Monroe Township adult cardholders are eligible to check out the passes on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must be free of overdue materials before checking out a pass and must sign a loan agreement at check out.

Passes are available for the Academy of Natural Sciences, Battleship New Jersey, Garden State Discovery Museum, Grounds for Sculpture, Independence Seaport Museum and Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center.

Snyder explained as long as the passes are utilized regularly, the library plans to have this resource available to members indefinitely.

Passes are available for a four-day period and are not renewable. The pass and plastic holder it is held in must be returned directly to a staff member at the Monroe Township Public Circulation Desk. A $5 late fee will be applied every day the pass is overdue.

Borrowers are responsible for calling or checking the museum website for hours of operation, current exhibits and for parking and directional information. The museum pass does not automatically admit patrons to every exhibit.

The Free Library of Monroe is not responsible for issues arising due to use of the museum passes.

If not returned, the replacements costs are as follows:

Academy of Natural Sciences: $199, Battleship New Jersey: $250, Garden State Discovery Museum: $400, Grounds for Sculpture: $500, Independence Seaport Museum: $150, Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center” $100.

The library is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
