Last night, the department responded to an incident in the Carriage Stop Development.
The following information is from the Berlin Police Department:
On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Berlin police officers responded to the Dunkin’ Donuts on the South White Horse Pike for the report of an assault stemming from a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, they located a female who was assaulted by her boyfriend.
The boyfriend also took the female’s vehicle and fled the area prior to police arrival.
At approximately 8 p.m., officers on patrol located the stolen vehicle in the Carriage Stop Development. Attempts to contact the male were unsuccessful. Officers requested assistance from Pine Hill Police Department who had an available K-9 Unit that started a track in the area, which also borders their jurisdiction.
At one point during the search, the male was reached on a cell phone but was uncooperative, making threats of harming officers should they encounter him.
Units who were in the area and surrounding streets continued the search. After a short time later, the male was observed fleeing the area of Cross Keys Road in Pine Hill. Nearby officers were able to take the male into custody without incident.
The male was then transported to police headquarters where he was processed on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, criminal restraint and theft. He is currently being processed before being remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility.
