BTPD participation in 2017 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” yields more than 150 summonses, multiple arrests
Five DWI arrests were among those made during the statewide year-end campaign
Public Safety Director Bruce Painter is pleased to announce that the Burlington Township Police Department recently participated in the national 2017 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Statewide Year End Campaign.
Between the dates of Dec.1 and Jan. 1, officers dedicated 100 hours of patrol time to this initiative. Those officers conducted 277 motor vehicle stops, resulting in five DWI arrests, two narcotics arrests, four warrant arrests, and 172 motor vehicle summonses. The following is the breakdown of summonses issued:
14 speeding summonses
16 suspended driver summonses
5 reckless driving summonses
2 careless driving summonses
4 seat belt summonses
131 other summonses
Director Painter credits all the men and women of the Burlington Township Police Department for making this initiative so successful and for making Burlington Township a safe community. Whereas the operational per iod for this initiative has ended, the Burlington Township Police Department remains committed to improving the safety of our roadways by aggressively enforcing the state’s DWI laws.
