Cherry Hill family launching foundation after child born with infant chronic lung disease
On Tuesday, Harvey and Jessie Vazquez of Cherry Hill celebrated the first birthday of their twin sons, Dylan and Noah. This was a bigger milestone for the Vazquez boys than most other babies their age. Dylan and Noah were born premature on Jan. 16, 2017. Dylan was born with underdeveloped lungs and was diagnosed with a potentially fatal condition called necrotizing enterocolitis. After a year of constant visits to the hospital and lots of ups and downs, the entire family is now together at home and Harvey and Jessie are looking to give back.
Cherry Hill Superintendent‘s salary boosted in new contract
Details on Cherry Hill Public Schools Superintendent Joe Meloche’s new contract were released after The Sun received the information after filing an Open Public Records Act request. Meloche’s new contract, approved by the Cherry Hill Board of Education on Jan. 9, features an annual base salary of $196,584 over the next three years. This is an increase of more than 10 percent over Meloche’s previous salary of $177,500.
Muqaddas Ejaz shares her story after receiving 2018 Camden County Freedom Medal
Two Cherry Hill Township residents were recipients of the 2018 Camden County Freedom Medal. One of those recipients was Muqaddas Ejaz, a member of the Cherry Hill Democratic Committee, a sergeant at the Camden County College Public Safety Department and co-leader of the Southern New Jersey chapter of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom since September 2016.

Charles Murphy, nicknamed “Kim,” an AARP tax aide, was astonished when he discovered he would be recognized by Camden County for his years of hard work and dedication to helping his community. Murphy was one of the recipients of the Camden County Freedom Medal last Wednesday. Murphy received the medal for working three days a week each year during tax season at the Pennsauken and Bellmawr libraries helping people complete their tax returns.
Proposed 2018 Cherry Hill Fire budget to feature tax increase for first time since 2011
After six consecutive years of no tax increase, Cherry Hill residents could see a small bump up in their fire tax bill in 2018. The Cherry Hill Board of Fire Commissioners approved a proposed budget on Jan. 4 that includes a small tax increase, the first for Cherry Hill since 2011. Residents with an average assessed home of $223,500 would see an increase in their fire taxes of $1.91 per month, or approximately $23 for the year, if the budget is approved by voters in the 2018 Cherry Hill Fire District №13 election on Feb. 17.
