On Feb. 2, the college will host its annual “Give Kida a Smile” program
Rowan College at Burlington County will host its 14th annual “Give Kids a Smile” day on Friday, Feb. 2 in its new state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center at the Mount Laurel Campus.
Give Kids A Smile is a one-day program that provides free dental care to children in need. It is part of the American Dental Association’s national effort to bring attention to the number one childhood disease, tooth decay.
“Rowan College at Burlington County’s top-ranked dental hygiene program takes the lead on organizing Give Kids A Smile day every year to help those who otherwise may not have access to oral health care in our community,” said Rowan College at Burlington County Acting President Michael Cioce. “The important event has helped more than 2,000 children in the community to date and puts them on a path to a life of good oral health.”
Children, ages 12 and younger, are eligible to receive free preventive and emergency dental care, including cleanings, fillings, x-rays and extractions. RCBC will also be providing entertainment. There will be face painters, Seeing Eye puppies in training and characters like the tooth fairy.
“RCBC’s Give Kids A Smile program addresses a serious health concern in a kid-friendly way and helps children create positive associations with the dentist,” said Linda Hecker, RCBC’s director of dental hygiene. “We are looking forward to hosting it at our new Mount Laurel location this year and continuing our tradition of building a healthier community.”
Those interested in making an appointment for their child are encouraged to call as soon as possible. Appointments are required and can be made by calling (856) 291–4215.
The RCBC Dental Hygiene Center is located in the Mount Laurel Campus’ new Health Sciences Center at 1000 College Circle.
