The contest is open to all fourth and fifth graders at the school.
On Thursday, Jan. 25, students at Harold Van Zant Elementary and their “P-R-O-U-D” families will gather for the 4th Annual Marlton Woman’s Club Spelling Bee.
The contest is open to all fourth and fifth graders at the school.
The spelling bee is a sponsored event of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) of which the Marlton Woman’s Club is a member.
There is no charge to participate in the event. The bee will begin at 7 p.m.
Students will be asked to spell a word and must repeat the word, then spell it correctly. Winners advance, while those who miss their attempt will be eliminated. Local fourth grade and fifth grade classes were furnished a list of suggested study words.
The first place winner receives a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble; the second place winner a $15 gift card and third place winner a $10 gift card. All participants receive a certificate.
The GFWC Marlton Woman’s Club is a proud member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC).
The non-profit volunteer service organization meets monthly from September through May on the fourth Monday of the month.
Self-described as a “a group of women who raise money and give it away,” the organization raised and donated $16,815 in the club’s 2016–2017 year, in addition to providing $17,630 of in-kind donations to civic and philanthropic entities. The majority of the club’s activities raise awareness of issues facing individuals in need and center on their local community. For more information visit www.marltonwomansclub.com.
