Police commend Officer Gary Borbidge for the motor vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle, eventually chasing the suspect on foot.

The Evesham Township Police Department has announced its “Officer of the Month” for December 2017 in Officer Gary Borbidge.
Police commend Borbidge for the motor vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle, eventually chasing the suspect on foot as well. Police say Borbidge is being commended for his quick actions and commitment to making the township a safer place.
According to police, Borbidge has been a member of the Evesham Township Police Department for 15 years.
On Dec. 2, police say Borbidge responded to the 300 block of Shady Lane for a report of a vehicle that had just been stolen.
While responding, police say Borbidge remained aware of his surroundings and located a vehicle on North Elmwood Road at Route 70 that matched the description of the stolen vehicle.
According to police, Borbidge quickly confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle, awaited a back-up officer, and attempted a motor vehicle stop. Police say the suspect failed to stop and initiated a motor vehicle pursuit, which led onto Evesboro-Medford Road.
Police say Borbidge continued the pursuit until the stolen vehicle struck a curb after turning into a neighborhood development and became disabled.
According to police, the suspect fled the truck on foot and Borbidge gave chase. The suspect ran between several homes and was tracked down by Borbidge and captured before having a chance to commit any further criminal activities in the neighborhood.
Police say Borbidge is being recognized for his relentless pursuit of the suspect, his professional demeanor in a fast paced situation and his commitment to keeping the community safe.
