Pinelands Branch gears up forĀ 2018

By Margaret Lafferty
Medford Library Association

Happy New Year! Along with welcoming 2018 we also welcomed an extremely cold spell. We are thankful for even minimally moderating temperatures.

On Jan. 11, we will be hosting two sessions of Parachute Play for our guests, ages 2 to 4. Join us at 10:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. for a half hour of parachute play and games. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Did you get a new tablet or smart phone or e-reader for the holidays? Or maybe you already have one, but could use some pointers on using it better? On Friday, Jan. 12, at 10:30 a.m., come to the library to learn how to download and enjoy our ever-growing catalog of e-books, e-audiobooks, and streaming videos. Please bring your device fully charged and know or bring your usernames and passwords for iTunes, Google, and/orĀ Amazon.

Calling all babies and toddlers! Drop by anytime between 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. to participate in our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) kickoff party featuring a guest appearance by Elephant and Piggie, from the popular series by Mo Willems. We will be celebrating this new, year-round service with stories, activities, and crafts designed for children 5 and under! Parents and caregivers will learn how their children can participate in the self-paced 1KBBK program through Beanstack, the libraryā€™s online readingĀ tracker.

Painting on Canvas, a class for adults and seniors, will be held on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. What better way to start a new year than to awaken a new talent or revive an existingĀ one!

From the seasoned painter to the newbie, this painting class has something for everyone! The selected painting for this class is ā€œ A Day at the Dunesā€. Local artists will guide you step-by-step through the featured two-hour painting. Attendees socialize and listen to music while awakening their inner artist. At the end of the event, each person leaves with a unique and memorable masterpiece.

Unfortunately, registration for our next popular Wineglass Painting is already closed. Please call the Reference Desk at (609) 654ā€“6113 to be placed on a waitĀ list.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and stay warm andĀ cozy!
