Reid passed away at the age of 71 on Dec. 5.
John William Reid, known to his friends and family as “Bill,” passed away on Dec. 5, at the age of 71 years.
Born in Salem, Mass. and growing up in Beverly, Mass., , he graduated from Beverly High School. After one year at Cushing Academy, Bill went to Kent State University where he earned his degree but more importantly met his wife Diane, and they started their wonderful life together.
Bill’s career in consumer products spanned more than 40 years working executive roles in Johnson & Johnson, GSK, Rembrandt and Del Pharmaceutical.
As a resident of Callawassie Island, S.C., he pursued his love for golf and fishing, and every year, he hoped for that elusive hole in one and winning the island bass tournament. On Saturday’s in the Fall, he was always rooting for his Buckeyes, and every spring, he had high hopes for another Boston Red Sox World Series win.
His true passion was his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane; his children Scott Reid and his wife Molly of Ridgefield, Conn., and Lisa Matos and her husband Joey of Western Springs, Ill.; his grandchildren McKenna Reid, Meghan Reid, Colton John William Reid, Reid Matos and Daniel William Reid; his siblings, Susan Reid, Marsha Farnham, Robert Reid; sister-in-law, Melinda Reiss and many nieces and nephews.
A requiem mass to celebrate Bill’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.12, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Interment immediately following in the church memorial garden.
