Driver in Rt. 130 crash slammed with manslaughter charges

The accident resulted in the death of 15-year-old Kassidy Bush on Nov. 15

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced Thursday that criminal charges have been filed against the driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer earlier this month on Route 130 in Cinnaminson, killing a teenage passenger.

The name of the defendant is being withheld at this time because he was a juvenile when the crash occurred on Nov 15. He has been charged with Aggravated Manslaughter (First Degree), Vehicular Manslaughter (Second Degree), Eluding (Second Degree) and Theft (Third Degree).

The Prosecutor’s Office is considering filing a petition to have the defendant waived up from juvenile court and tried as an adult.

The investigation revealed that the car, which previously had been reported as stolen out of Cinnaminson, was traveling southbound when the collision occurred near the intersection with Riverton Road. Kassidy Bush, 15, who was a sophomore at Palmyra High School, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was admitted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. He has since been released and is being detained in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center in Pemberton Township.

Cinnaminson police had attempted to execute a traffic stop on the vehicle prior to the crash, but the driver accelerated instead of pulling over.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. The investigation is being led by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Courtney J. O’Brien.
